LCA-Washington To Hold Top Of Class Installation
Koffa Asked To Head Effort
The newly elected president of the Liberian Community Association of the Washington Metropolitan area, Hon. Ernest Johnson, has declared the day of his installation, May 10, 2008, as Unity Day, and to mark the occasion, a top of the class installation program is being planned, and Mr. Morris T. Koffa, veteran and long time community activist, was named to head the effort as Chairman for the installation committee. The Koffa committee is charged with the task of organizing this grand program with the aim of promoting unity among Liberians in the community, and hope to serve as a model for Liberian communities across the United States. The pending installation program is a first in more than eight years when the community was invited to such an important event. read

LCA-Washington New Administration Takes Shape
Johnson Establishes Committees
Barely two weeks following his astounding victory, Ernest B. Johnson, new elected president for the Liberian Community Association of the Washington Metropolitan area, or LCA, is wasting no time in developing the shape he would like his administration to be in. Johnson in his 2nd Executive meeting unveiled series of committees that he said will serve as conduit in the implementation of his administration policies. Accordingly, Mr. Johnson is opting for a wholesome functioning administration in which every important aspect of the community will be addressed. The committees, carefully named by Johnson and top officials and staff of his administration are designed to deal with what he called pressing issues facing the community. read

PRESIDENT BUSH: Madam President, you're right, we have met four times, and every time I'm the better for it. (Laughter.) I appreciate the warm welcome we've received from the people of your beautiful country.
We bring with us the greetings and best wishes of the American people. I'm proud to be traveling today not only with a strong delegation, headed by my wife, but also the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. (Applause.) I'm so honored to be with your troops. I'm looking forward to the display of talent and professionalism we're about to see. First Liberia's Census In 24 Years Is On The Way

Monrovia, Liberia - Liberia’s first National Population Census in 24 years kicked off Friday throughout the country, with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf expressing hope that the process will provide the necessary data to help the country properly plan its development programs. The President, who was among thousands of Liberians enumerated on the first day of the process, described the exercise as a great opportunity for Liberia that will enable the country to collect real and accurate data needed to underpin the country’s development. read
