LCA-Washington New Administration Takes Shape
Johnson Establishes Committees

Barely two weeks following his astounding victory, Ernest B. Johnson, new elected president for the Liberian Community Association of the Washington Metropolitan area, or LCA, is wasting no time in developing the shape he would like his administration to be in. Johnson in his 2nd Executive meeting unveiled series of committees that he said will serve as conduit in the implementation of his administration policies. Accordingly, Mr. Johnson is opting for a wholesome functioning administration in which every important aspect of the community will be addressed. The committees, carefully named by Johnson and top officials and staff of his administration are designed to deal with what he called pressing issues facing the community.

Among some of the committees named are the following which are currently being staffed and will officially be presented at the first general meeting on April 6, 2008, since the elections.

  • Inaugural Committee
  • Constitution Committee
  • Membership
  • Public Relations Committee
  • Program/Fundraising Committee
  • Social Committee
  • Culture Affairs Committee
  • Youth Services Committee
  • Senior Services Committee
  • Financial Accountability Committee
  • Legal Affairs Committee

The vetting of these committee are currently on the way with the possibility of establishing new ones and also combining some. Mr. Johnson intends to use these committee as a means of reaching out to all members of the Association to be a part in the development of the new beginning or new era that is about to unfold within the Association.

Main while all eyes are set on the installation program. We are told all key decisions regarding the grand event have already been made. The inaugural committee, the first committee of this administration to go into full swing is wasting no time in securing the hall, printing tickets along with the unleashing of a massive public relation campaign to inform the community of the up coming installation program. Who is who across the Liberian community will be invited, and the display of Liberian talents will reportedly be many of the highlights. Installation Day is Saturday, May 10, 2008.
